Project Description

A consortium-led initiative, funded by the European Union (EU), encompassing multiple facets of community development including but not limited to, Community Health Services, Disaster Preparedness, Agriculture and Livestock based Livelihood promotion, Children, Youth and Women Empowerment and Local Capacity Enhancement was endorsed among 27 remote Village Development Committees (VDCs) of the then Western Development Region (Gandaki and Lumbini province) from 2008 to 2010. Experts in the specific themes within the consortium were responsible for the implementation of very particular initiatives. Consortium member organizations included AHTCS, Naulo Ghumti, Nepal Redcross Society and GONESA. AHTCS spearheaded Aid for Livelihoods through Agriculture and Livestock Promotion while supporting the other components of the integrated project. The project ensured sustainable positive impacts on the lives of 27 remote communities reaching 1,48,595 people (25,077 households) across nine districts including Kaski, Syanja, Gorkha, Parwat, Myagdi, Gulmi, Rupandehi and Kapilvastu districts.
