Free General Health Check Program (GHCP) organized at Latinath, Darchula

11 March 2018. Darchula, a district in Mahakali zone of Far western Nepal is among the remote district of Nepal. Darchula has low excess to roadways and other means of transportation. Working equines and Caprines stand as sole mode of transportation of goods in high hills of the district. Estimated population being 300 working equines thionere was no availability of health service providers with knowledge of equines. AHTCS under WEWP has been trying to access the equine health and welfare in the district since four years and there have been certain improvements in the knowledge of equine owners and handlers regarding the issues of management and welfare.

A team from AHTCS comprising of four people headed to Darchula on 6th March 2018. A 3 day long General Health Check up Camp was organized in Dharmaghar, Lattinath from 7th march to 9th March. From the camp, 255 equines of 55 owners/handlers were benefited.

One day training regarding the basic handling and restraining techniques, choice of drugs and route of administrations was organized for the above mentioned vet technicians.
