The Excursion Visit to the National Goat Research Program, Bandipur Tanahun

An exciting and educational excursion was organized for four groups from  Tarkang (Ward no. 4, Madi Rural Municipality), Taprang (Ward no. 6, Madi Rural Municipality), and Pokhara-16, Armala, conducted by the Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS) under the Community Goat Production and Strengthening Project. The visit to the National Goat Research Program in Bandipur, Tanahun, was an incredible opportunity for participants to enhance their knowledge and skills in goat farming and animal husbandry.

The primary aim of the excursion was to familiarize the groups with the latest research, innovations, and sustainable practices in goat production. As the visitors toured the National Goat Research Program facilities, they learned about the different breeds of goats, improved breeding techniques, and the importance of efficient management practices in goat farming. The research program focuses on addressing the challenges faced by local farmers, such as disease management, breeding efficiency, and increasing production while maintaining animal welfare.

The visit was a success, as farmers received valuable knowledge and demonstrations on goat rearing, facilitated by Dr. Purna Shrestha (Officer T-6 NARC) and Mr. Buddhiram Acharya. From understanding proper feeding techniques to discussing disease prevention methods, the participants were able to ask questions and gain practical insights that could be applied to their own goat farming practices.

Overall, the visit was a success in achieving its objectives of educating and empowering farmers to improve their goat farms. We hope the participants gained valuable insights to enhance their farming practices.
